Sloppy Joes

Did you grow up eating Sloppy Joes?  I remember loving this sandwich as a child, but I can’t remember the last time I made them (if ever).  I ran across my aunt’s recipe and decided that this would make a perfect Sunday night supper for us.

I wrote this recipe down as a teen thinking that I’d want to make it when I was grown.  I like it as much now as I did then.  Yum!

    2. I do like a good sloppy Joe – – – I liked the silly “slop, slop, sloppy Joe” song too!

I had FORGOTTEN this – – – in these here parts they call sloppy joes barbeque. Having lived in the SOUTH where I learned what REAL barbeque is, I now have to giggle every time someone says something about barbeques up here and I REALIZE they MEAN sloppy joes!

      Have a great day, Paula!

    3. I made sloppy joes last night with a can of manwich that was in my pantry from a while ago…yuck! I’ll never bother making it from a can again! I’ve tried several different recipes; maybe I’ll give yours a try next.

    4. I don’t think I’ve ever made Sloppy Joes, but I know my mom did. I’ll have to give this one a try…I’m in a real dinner rut lately.

    5. Yup, I grew up on sloppy joe’s and make them from time to time. I’ll give this recipe a try next time. Also used to get something called a “neat joe” at the antique fair food booth that we have in the summer. It was served in a tube like bread thing and was a lot more neat to eat.

      1. Kathleen – I’ve made this for years and years and we love it. We are big eaters so I always double the recipe so that I’ll have leftovers.
