It’s Time for Turkeys!

I was lazy this year and skipped decorating for Halloween.  Decorating motivation kicked in once the calendar changed to November giving me an opportunity to pull out one of my favorite collections, my turkeys.

Come on in and take a look at my collection!  Turkeys greet guests on the porch.

I’ve had the three on the left since the early 90’s.  The basket was a gift from my in-laws and was filled with goodies from Illinois.

This old advertisement platter is displayed with Byers pilgrims that Mama bought for me long ago.  I especially like the male pilgrim holding the turkey.

The buffet in the dining room sports Indian corn and beeswax turkeys that are locally made.

Pilgrims and faux fall foliage help to decorate the living room.

I would have liked to have changed my mantle display to a Thanksgiving one, but I didn’t have the heart to remove my vintage football themed mantel just yet.

The turkey figurine was purchased in downtown Staunton and the plate was a thrift shop find.

Handmade cornhusk dolls decorate one side of the dresser in the living room.

The other side sports real Vermont maple leaves made into ornaments.

The kitchen is also filled with turkeys.

These two platters are exactly alike except for the color.  I found the pink one last weekend in an estate shop in Norfolk.

Mama gave me the turkey platter and the turkeys that surround it.

I really like this sweet planter.

The dining area in the kitchen is the last place that is decked out in turkeys.

I love all of my turkeys but I think these three antique turkey candles are the favorite of my collection.
