Trash to Treasure Dresser Reveal!

Trash to Treasure Dresser Reveal by virginiasweetpea.com

In late winter my friend and I found a dresser put out for the trash on one of our early morning runs.  Mr. SP and I repaired it, painted it and now it has a new home in our living room.

The top drawer front had to be replaced because the wood was badly warped.  We also had to replace some drawer slides inside the dresser.  We painted it with Churchhill Hotel Brown paint from Lowes in gloss and purchased the knobs on clearance at Lowe’s.  In all we spent less than $30 to bring this dresser back to life.

Do you remember what it looked like before?

What a difference a little bit of paint and TLC can make!

The dresser is currently empty and I plan to use the bottom two drawers for placemats and tablecloths.  The top drawer will be a great place to keep gloves and scarves in the winter.  We live in an old house with tiny closets and previously didn’t have a convenient storage area for gloves.  Our new dresser solves that problem.

We both really enjoyed working on this dresser.  I’m currently working on one that was stored in Mama’s barn that I plan to sell.  It’s fun to see something in bad shape come back to life.

  1. Paula, I love how your roadside find turned out. Beautifully done. Love the color choice. Crushing on the hardware. And love having a place for everything with the extra storage you now have.
    Cheers to you and yours,
    Therese

    1. Thanks, Therese. I also really like the hardware and got lucky because it was on closeout at Lowe’s and was very inexpensive. I still haven’t filled the drawers and am excited to have more storage!

  2. Hi – found you today on the 6th Annual Before and After DIY Link party. I have 3 projects on it -the 3 right before yours. Great job on this save. Amazing what people throw out. I guess that’s how computer geeks feel whenever I throw out an old computer that doesn’t work anymore!

Hopefully you will visit me and comment as well.

  6. It turned out really nice. Plus, it’s neutral, so if you want to use it somewhere else, it won’t be a problem. So smart. My sister and I were just talking about this type of project this morning. They are the best because you get something you love, for little or no money.
