Wooden Rabbit Makeover

Last summer I spotted a cute wooden rabbit at Goodwill and couldn’t resist buying him for just $.99.  He’s been waiting seven months for a makeover and it’s finally happened.  Keep reading because he’s got a new look!

Rabbit from Goodwill - Before It’s my guess that someone bought this at a craft show long ago or perhaps their husband made it for them and they grew tired of it.  Nevertheless, it was donated to Goodwill and they kindly priced it reasonably.  I don’t know about the Goodwill stores in your area, but the ones in mine have been pricing things much higher than they used to.

Mr. Rabbit first got sanded to smooth out his surface for painting.  He then got two coats of Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Primitive.  To mimic white fur, I dry brushed him with Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Everlasting.  He then got a coat of cream wax for protection.

Rabbit from Goodwill Gets a Makeover I haven’t started decorating for Easter, but after pulling out a nest, shredded book pages, and some eggs to use to take pictures for this post, I’m ready.  Easter is one of my favorite holidays for decor!

If you are a Pinterest user, I would love it if you’d pin my rabbit makeover to Pinterest for others to discover.

    1. Thank you, Megan. He looks more handsome in person. His white color made him kind of hard to photograph. He’s at The White Brick House and I hope someone falls in love with him soon and gives him a new home.

    1. That’s terrible that Goodwill ships things to other areas. I really don’t like that idea at all!

  2. That wood piece is from one of Julie Whites early tole & decorative books. From the early 1990’s. I sold many wood cutouts and books from her line of painting books.

    1. Thank you so much for this information, Jody. I’m going to look on Ebay for Julie White’s books!
