Walnut Avenue :: Thanksgiving Mantel

Mama has a pretty Thanksgiving mantel in her family room this year.  I kept admiring it while I visited her last weekend and thought that you might enjoy seeing it, too.

I love the Bittersweet twisted through her arrangement.

I’m pretty sure that my mother-in-law gave this to Mama as a Thanksgiving hostess gift one year.  If I’m correct, it is handmade from Illinois.

Mama has had these Pilgrims for a long while.

Did you notice that Mama uses dried gourds, too??  It’s nice to have them on hand to use year after year.

What’s on your agenda this weekend?  Mr. SP has a big race and I’ll be there to cheer him on.  I paid $90 to do it back in March but can’t because of my back problem.  I know that I could complete it (1/2 marathon) but I am afraid that it may cause problems for me, so I’m going to be smart and not run it.  I’m looking forward to cheering him on at the finish line!

  2. I like the pilgrims made of cornhusks. It’s not easy finding good Thanksgiving figurines in ANY material. We’re at the lake this weekend. Can’t believe how beautiful it still is — lots of gorgeous color. We’ll be driving through your neck of the woods in the morning on our way to the JMU game. Go DUKES!
