Birthday Number 39

Next year will be the big 4-0!! Wow!

It was a good day for a birthday. The weather was perfect and it was a holiday so Mr. SP and I were off from work.

We started the day with a race. Look at my number!! It’s a good thing I’m not superstitious!

I spent the entire afternoon in the yard. My vegetable garden is now mulched with composted leaves and I weeded many flower beds. I didn’t do everything that I would have liked to have done, but I’m pleased and I’m a good tired from the work. With all the rain we’ve had, the weeds have grown like crazy.

These pictures were taken today. Everything has been so pretty this spring.

I don’t know the botanical name for this, but we’ve always called it “Red Hot Poker”.

My school friends gave this to me for my birthday a long time ago.

This beauty came with our house.

Presents from Mr. SP. He remembered that I wanted this Virginia towel at Christmas and they were sold out! The big gift…black pearls.

Towel detail:

My cake is so good! I love cake: birthday, wedding, shower, cupcakes. It has to be white or yellow cake with buttercream frosting. I don’t like chocolate cake.

I’m off to curl up on my sofa and read my new book. This was part of my gift from my in-laws. I love these books because they are set very close to where I grew up. Rita Mae sometimes includes a real character that I know! Rita Mae is one of my mom’s neighbors. She is a wonderful person.

  1. Happy Birthday-sounds like a perfect day to me. The weeds have taken over- too much rain also. Going to mulch the heck out of most. I don’t like chocolate cake either. Happy Birthday. 39 is great.
