Glittery Painted Christmas Ornaments with Mod Podge

Glittery Painted Christmas Ornaments with Mod Podge by virginiasweetpea.com

This post is brought to you by Plaid Crafts.  Have you started crafting for Christmas?  Christmas crafts are one of my favorite things to make.  I recently had a chance to work with Mod Podge items from Plaid to use for a Christmas craft.  It didn’t take long to get inspired after receiving these goodies!

Craft Supplies

I thought about using a jig saw to cut out Christmas shapes to paint, but remembered that I bought these stars on sale after 4th of July thinking that they’d come in handy for a future project.

Plaid Wood Stars

The stars weren’t made to be ornaments, so I started by drilling a hole in each for hanging.

I then gave each two coats of paint with FolkArt craft paint.  I love how quickly this paint dries!

After the ornaments were dry, a Christmas message was added to each with a paint pen.

The crowning touch to these ornaments was the addition of a coat of glitter Mod Podge to each side.  I can’t wait to hang my ornaments on my tree to see them sparkle in the lights!

  2. This would have been a great project to work on with our 13 1/2 yr. old Granddaughter yesterday when she was over all day. She came to craft but I had arthritis so badly during the night (not much sleep) and yesterday I wasn’t in much of a shape to craft. I gave her some paper and few craft tools tho and she got to work making some things. Now she’ll have couple gifts to give. She’d love this project. I don’t have any wood stars but do have some paper mache ones that were meant to make a garland so we’ll use those. I have two of those sets. Might get some wood stars before she comes again. We could really crank out some ornaments for her to give and me too. Love your project and post, Happy Thanksgiving.
