A Good Weekend and an Indoor Gardening Report

This has been such a good weekend.  Last week was a long week and I felt like I never had a second to blog.  It’s nice to have a few days to rest and unwind.

Mr. SP and I had a date on Friday night and went to Shoemakers for dinner.  Shoemakers used to be really expensive and we only went there for special occasions.  They recently changed the menu to make it more affordable and it’s just as good as when it was more expensive.  It was nice to sit and talk and just plain old relax.

My back is so much better and I went for a run Saturday morning with my friend, Suzanne.  It was glorious to be running in the woods again.  I miss running when I can’t do it.

Mr. SP helped me with a project during the day.  It is one of the best things that I’ve made and I am really excited to share it with you.  I will post about it tonight.

Our mixed doubles team had a match Saturday afternoon.  Mr. SP and I played the 3rd court and kicked bootie – 6,0;6-2.  We’ve played three times this season and have won two out of three.  The one we lost was in a third set tie-breaker.

Elsie and I went to see New Moon at the dollar theater last night.  I didn’t like it nearly as much as Twilight, but I did enjoy shirtless young wolves.  Maybe I am a cougar after all.

It is a beautiful day here.  We are going to play tennis this morning and then spend the whole day together.  We may even go to the lake to see our property.

My Forsythia that I forced has been so pretty.

Last fall I did a post about forcing bulbs to bloom indoors.  I had an Iris bloom this week.

My Lilac buds are really developing.

Look at the change in just a few days.

The Red Maple is close to being in full bloom.

My biggest surprise this week was to discover that two of my Amaryllis are going to bloom after all.  I had given up on them and assumed that they were skipping blooming this year.  Oh yea of little faith.  Maybe the other two will surprise me as well.

Enjoy your Sunday!

  1. Look at all of those beautiful blooms!! Your “cougar” comment had me about falling out of my chair!! 🙂

  2. Sounds like you have had a wonderful and busy weekend, Paula. How fun!! I didn’t know you had hurt your back. I’m sorry but glad you are doing better.

I LOVE the forsythia!! I have a flowering shrub near the front door that blooms in the spring and I have always wanted to try forcing it. I’m going to give it a try~you have inspired me!

Good luck in your tennis match!

  3. Love all the spring in your home! I think the high price places have to come down some in order for averge people out on the town…the encomony has really hurt some people in ways they are not fortunate to go out and eat.
