Goodbye 2008….Hello 2009

Do you have big plans for the evening? We are going to our club for a dinner/dance. Mr. SP hates dancing, but luckily one of my good friends is coming and we’ll dance while the men sit. I am really not a big fan of NYE, but I do like getting all fancied up for an evening out. The hardest part for me is staying up until midnight. I hope that I make it!

I pulled out the postcard collection that I inherited from my grandmother who inherited them from the aunt who raised her to see if there were any New Years postcards in the box. Sure enough, there were a few. I put them out on my mantel to enjoy for a week or so. I love reading the cards. A lot of them are from my great uncle George to his future wife, great aunt Willye.

I am ready for simple decorations now that Christmas is over. I’ve had this pine cone wreath for years and years. I bought it at a local church craft show. If you click on my pictures, they will enlarge.

Can you read the message? A lot of his messages sound a little racy to me!!

Enjoy your evening and be safe!

  1. Hi, Paula, thank you for finally introducing yourself, so nice to meet you! I know there are a lot of lurkers out there who do not leave comments & that’s OK, I’m just happy you all stop by to see me. I’m excited about 2009 too & I’m sure I’ll come up with something to blog about! I don’t have many things on the burner right now, but that is always subject to change, so keep on reading.

I’m a workout fanatic too & hit the gym at least 5 times a week. It’s definitely necessary as you get older to keep moving & burning calories!

  2. Finally! I thought I was the only one who wasn’t a fan of NYE. I don’t know why, I just don’t get it.
    Love the vintage postcards.
    Happy New Year.
    Teresa

  3. Those are so cool, Paula! I did get two new cookbooks–I got Hungry Girl, which I have seen has mixed reviews, and my sweet MIL printed family cookbooks for everyone this year with some of the “heirloom” recipes from my husband’s side of the family. 🙂

  4. Those postcards are such a wonderful keepsake! Isn’t the handwriting beautiful? Lucky you to have them.
We babysat for NYE and that was fine. We always have relatives over and appetizers and soups and such. We barely stay awake too! 😉
    Happy New Year!
    Donna

  5. Hi Paula,
The post cards are really beautiful.
    What a nice keepsake.

Hope your 09′ is going wonderful so far!
    ~Melissa 🙂
