Monogrammed Table Makeover – Themed Furniture Day!

Monogrammed Table Makeover by virginiasweetpea.com It’s that time again, themed furniture makeover day!  It seems like just yesterday that I was sharing last month’s project, a two toned makeover for a Lane cedar chest.

This month the theme is words or letters.  Like any southern girl, I can’t resist a monogram and decided to give a $5 Goodwill table an update with paint and an “S” for my last name.

I don’t know this table’s original function but I suspect it could have been a child’s desk.  Does anyone know?  A small amount of repair was needed to make the table stable and then it was sanded and painted.

I used Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in Primitive, then painted the monogram a basic white from Lowe’s, and finally waxed and buffed the piece.

The monogram is a googled image that I liked and enlarged.  I transferred it to the table by putting old fashioned carbon paper under the printed monogram and then traced over the letter.  It took four coats of white paint to fill in the “S” with good coverage.

The color of this paint looks different inside versus outside; outside it has more of a gray appearance.

I’ve been wanting a table to put beside the chaise lounge in our family room.   This table is the perfect size to hold a drink and a few magazines and its color looks nice with the upholstery on the chair.
