The Return of Fitness Friday (Week Twenty-One)

Have you wondered why I haven’t had a Fitness Friday post in a while?  The truth is I just didn’t have the heart to do it while I was trying to get over my out-of-line pelvis/back problem.  While in therapy, I was limited in what I could do and I still am, but thankfully many of the restrictions have been lifted.  I’ve run three times and have enjoyed every step and my fingers are crossed that I’ll continue to improve.  Honestly, I’m still scared that the injury will come back.

The therapy exercises that I’ve been doing since June are designed to strengthen the muscles in my pelvic area and back with the hope that the strengthened muscles will hold everything in the correct place.  Several of the exercises use bands which offer a surprising good muscle challege.  A side effect of the exercises is that they work the core and the rear end.  The exercise shared below is particularly good for the top of your rear, a place that I find hard to tone.

Use a band to do this exercise….Your back and booty will thank you!

  1. Glad you are able to exercise again! I imagine that you would have a really hard time not working out for more than a couple days (I know I get a little depressed whenever that happens for any reason.)

  2. I’m glad you are feeling better! I’ll be needing these now that I’m back at work. Chocolate is too good to pass up!

  3. I, too, am happy to hear that you’re back to running- I know how much you love it! Those exercise bands are invaluable. My son used them to build up his calf muscles after a broken ankle.
