Signs of Fall

Colchicums are blooming – that means fall is officially on the way. There are only a few days of summer left, but it is starting to feel very fall-like around here. The leaves on the trees are starting to look tired and there’s a hint of cool in the air every now and then. My mums have big fat buds and I can’t wait to see their blooms. Nothing says fall like mums.

I hate the ugly Colchicum folliage in the spring, but it’s worth it to get these pretty blooms in the fall. My Colchicums are all pass-along plants from my grandmother. The bulbs multiply like crazy, so if you have Colchicums, consider passing some along to a friend.

My Lantana is hiding these pretty blooms.
