Simple Thanksgiving Tea Towel

Burlap Turkey Tea Towel

I love having something a cute seasonal towel to hang on my stove.  Making a drop cloth tea towel embellished with a fall leaf inspired me to create a Thanksgiving version.

Making this was easy.  I cut a piece of drop cloth 19.5” x 28” to form the towel.
I then ironed each side down twice at 0.5”.  After ironing, I sewed the sides down and mitered the corners.  A turkey was cut out of burlap and fused to the fabric with fusible webbing.  To add decorative detail, I outlined the turkey with a zig-zag stitch using brown thread.  Orange binding tape and white rick-rack from my stash add a punch of color to the bottom of the towel.

In less than an hour’s time, I had a cute towel to enjoy through Thanksgiving.
Who can believe that Thanksgiving is a week away?  Where has fall gone?
