Strawberry Tart with Brown Sugar Crust

Strawberry Cream Tart with Brown Sugar Crust

Step One – Make the Crust

  • 4 cups corn flakes
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 1 1/3 cups flour

To make the crust, start by crushing the cornflakes in a plastic bag. I used a rolling pin to crush them.

Next, beat butter and brown sugar at medium speed in a stand mixer until fluffy.

Then add egg yolks, salt, and almond extract, beating until smooth.  Gradually add flour and cereal.

Shape the mixture into a ball and press into a well-buttered, 12-inch pizza pan.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes or until golden.  Cool completely.

Filling made with vanilla pudding, cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and Cool Whip is spread over the crust and topped with sliced strawberries. This is a family favorite dessert!

Notes

This tart is also delicious using raspberries, blackberries or blueberries as the fruit topping. For patriotic holidays, use strawberries and blueberries.
