This and That

The fabric for my dining room that I ordered on June 14 finally arrived last Tuesday. I cut out all of the pieces and made the strips for the piping and then, of course, no store in Lynchburg had any cording in stock. I’m at a stand-still for making the curtains until I get cording. I ordered some, which should arrive tomorrow, and now I’ve realized that I ordered the wrong size. I could give myself a swift kick!! I’m going to Roanoke today to go shopping, so I might buy some cording there and then keep what I ordered on hand for a future project.

Since I couldn’t work on the curtains, I decided to make a Roman shade for the door. Our door is one of those old fashioned dutch doors that has glass on top and is solid on the bottom. The top and bottom are separate pieces so that either part can be opened or closed. Mr. SP screwed ours together a long time ago because he didn’t like it. I haven’t quite finished the shade, but I have a good start. I’m following directions from a book and they aren’t the best directions in the world.

What else? My friend and I went to an open house at Moyanne on Thursday night. Moyanne is a local decorator who is quite popular. She just moved her Lynchburg store to an old house on Rivermont Avenue. It was really interesting to see the work that she’s done on the house and to have the opportunity to go upstairs in the house to see the design studios, offices, and the man’s room. The house was used as a boarding house long ago and Moyanne left the room numbers on the doors. I thought that was cool. My friend and I enjoyed looking at all the “stuff” for sale and especially enjoyed looking at the fabric. Moyanne gave away three design consulatations that night and my friend won one of them!! I am so excited for her and I can’t wait to see what is suggested.

The pool has called my name nearly every day. I love sitting by the pool with a book. Summertime is the best time of the year.

I hope everyone has a good week!
