Visiting Black Dog Salvage
In yesterday’s post I promised pictures of architectural treasures found at Black Dog Salvage in Roanoke. If you like old houses or antiques, you would love a visit to this place.
It’s called Black Dog Salvage for a reason. Sally seems to live a pretty good life.
The stone house that I shared with you yesterday is to the right of the building shown below.
Mama needs a radiator to replace one in her Walnut Avenue kitchen that is too big. Certainly one of these would work.
Wouldn’t a new house be grand with two of these on the front porch?
Mama is missing a few of these and will have to come back with a sample from her home to find an exact match.
I don’t know where I’d put it, but one of these would be great to store scrapbook paper or crafting supplies.
My grandmother on my mom’s side used to cook on a stove just like this. Believe it or not, my cousin who is younger than me still uses it for heat in her kitchen and sometimes for cooking.
I’d really like one of these to use for a coffee table.
This would be great in a lake house.
I adore old stained glass and there’s lots to be had at Black Dog Salvage for not a lot of money.
Now that I know how great Black Dog Salvage is, I’m sure to go back. Would you enjoy visiting a store like this?
Wow! Salvage stores can be so overwhelming-but they also have cool stuff! Agreed that the one piece would make a cool craft supply storage. And would that cow go on your coffee table, too? 😉

Holy cow Paula (and I do love that cow) I’d have to bring a lot of $$$ and a big truck if I visited this salvage area.

I love, love, love salvage stores. We have a great one here, but sadly, a lot of the stuff was lost in Katrina. It’s starting to rebound though. Wish I could make a quick trip to Roanoke…with a big truck.

I can see how someone with a creative mind could put some of these pieces to great use! I’ve never been to a salvage store but it looks like a great trip! Hope your mother finds everything she needs!

I would LOOOOOVE to visit a place like that! I’ve been looking for a similar place in Arkansas and have only found one, which is still hours from my house.
That place is FULL of treasures. I love that railroad cart thing for a coffee table too. They are fantastic! I am also totally in love with the cow on top of it! Love it!
