Fitness Friday #23 :: Bosu Plank Push Up

Welcome back to Fitness Friday!  Did you try last week’s exercise, the Bridge ‘N’ Curl?  If you didn’t, give it a try.  It’s a great one to do while you watch tv.About this time last year I noticed a girl at the Y doing push-ups on a Bosu ball and I immediately added it to my routine.  Getting into a plank position on the Bosu engages your core.  Adding in a push-up with your fingers facing forward works the triceps, chest, back, and core all at one time.

How-To:

1.  Get into a plank position on a Bosu ball with your fingers facing forward, hands under your chest.  Make sure your back and legs are in a straight line.

2.  Slowly lower your chest until it is just above the ball.  Then push back up into the start position.

This exercise is challenging.  You may only be able to do a few when you start.  Work up to doing three sets of ten for a great tricep blast.

Mr. SP wasn’t available to help make a video, so I had to ask a random guy at the gym to help me.  He was a great sport and told me that I should have spoken up.  I am a bit soft in the video but there were quite a few people in the room and I didn’t want to call attention to myself.
Let me know if you try this exercise.  It’s one of my favorites!

  1. Ditto, Nancy! 😉 How nice of that guy to help you film…there are some good Samaritans left, huh? Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. I do those on the Bosu, but we usually line up like a regular push ups. Is there a reason you do them at an angle?
