A Last Taste of Autumn Beauty

This fall has not been particularly spectacular color-wise around here, perhaps because of the long, hot summer.  I took the photos below last weekend.  Even if the color is not particularly impressive, the mountains are.  I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful area.

These pictures were taken in Bedford County very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The Parkway is in the area of the two mountains in the background.

This mountain is called “Sharp Top.”  It’s neighbor (not in the picture) is “Flat Top.”  This area is known as “The Peaks of Otter.”  The view from “Sharp Top” is incredible on  a clear day.

How about that cow statue??

The next two pictures were taken at Gross’ Orchard, located at the base of the Peaks.  This area is known as “Apple Valley.”

I love this peaceful farm scene.  I never imagined that I’d end up living in a neighborhood, I always pictured myself living somewhere like this.

Enjoy your Saturday!  It’s going to be cold here!  We are hosting Supper Club tonight for two couples who couldn’t come this last time.  (Shhhh….. We didn’t invite those who came to the first party!)  I’ll be busy today preparing for the party.   I haven’t cleaned since the last one and my Halloween decorations are still out.  I can’t wait to pull out my turkey collection and to fluff up my house for guests.
