Walnut Avenue :: Thanksgiving Mantel
Mama has a pretty Thanksgiving mantel in her family room this year. I kept admiring it while I visited her last weekend and thought that you might enjoy seeing it, too.
I love the Bittersweet twisted through her arrangement.
I’m pretty sure that my mother-in-law gave this to Mama as a Thanksgiving hostess gift one year. If I’m correct, it is handmade from Illinois.
Mama has had these Pilgrims for a long while.
Did you notice that Mama uses dried gourds, too?? It’s nice to have them on hand to use year after year.
What’s on your agenda this weekend? Mr. SP has a big race and I’ll be there to cheer him on. I paid $90 to do it back in March but can’t because of my back problem. I know that I could complete it (1/2 marathon) but I am afraid that it may cause problems for me, so I’m going to be smart and not run it. I’m looking forward to cheering him on at the finish line!
the mantle is beautiful. i love bittersweet as well, i have it on my mantle now. i am glad i found your blog,i am a fellow virginian as well.:)
I like the pilgrims made of cornhusks. It’s not easy finding good Thanksgiving figurines in ANY material. We’re at the lake this weekend. Can’t believe how beautiful it still is — lots of gorgeous color. We’ll be driving through your neck of the woods in the morning on our way to the JMU game. Go DUKES!
It is a great mantle! I love her corn husk pilgrims. Good luck to Mr. SP on his race and smart girl to take it easy so you don’t injure yourself more. Have a great weekend!
Me…I’m recuperating from a terrible cold so I’m taking it easy this weekend.
Love your mom’s cornucopia and all it’s contents! And her Stairway Gallery of pictures below is beautiful and so interesting!
Thanks so much for the sweet comment you left on my last post! Made my day! 🙂 Best of luck to your husband in the race!
Love the mantel! Now I know where your decorating style came from. So sorry that you can’t run in the race this time, however, wish your husband luck for me! Carla
I do love this house! Her mantel looks lovely. How neat that she pulls out things she’s had for years. Makes me miss my mom!
Hope Mr. SP has a great time in the race. You’re smart to stay on the sidelines for now. How is your back doing lately?
That is so pretty! I love the bittersweet all intertwined (although I admit I didn’t know what it was called). Gorgeous!
Wish Mr. SP luck in the race. So sorry you don’t get to paticipate this time but I’m sure you’ll be a great cheerleader! Have a great weekend!
Hey, Paula! I wanted to see what’s going on over here @ Sweet Pea, and I am enjoying these posts and photos about your mom’s house. 😀
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
What a pretty mantel! Love the bittersweet…I got some, too, this fall. Oh, the family pics up the stair wall are wonderful! What a treasure! Linda
