Wintergreen Weekend

A group from our winter mixed doubles tennis team went to Wintergreen this weekend for a little tennis and a lot of fun.  Nine of us stayed in Cole and Beth’s house located beside one of the slopes.

I would use this place every weekend that I could if it were mine.  Look at the view!

The hot tub never got above 80 degrees, so we didn’t get to use it.  I probably wouldn’t have used it anyway because it just doesn’t seem right to wear a bathing suit outside in January.

Mr. SP and I didn’t get to ski because we were playing tennis with the group.  The snow was thick and the crowds were thin, so we really missed out on the skiing part.

If you are a tennis player, you would love Wintergreen.  They have weekend academies plus other clinics.  We did a skills and drills clinic followed by a play with the pro clinic.  I was really having an off tennis day and played very poorly.  The clinics were still fun and I’m always glad to get instruction from a different teacher.

We sat by the fire all afternoon and then went to a local brewery for dinner.  The brewery was really crowded and we had to wait over two hours for dinner.  I don’t care for beer, but I gave it my best shot and nursed this bad boy for the night.  I asked the bartender for the beer that would taste the most like water.  I managed to drink about half of it.

The sun rising over the mountains Sunday morning was a beautiful site.

IMG_2569 It’s always fun to have a weekend away with good friends!  I hope that we get to do it again soon.

  2. Beautiful photos…haven’t done Wintergreen, but I have been to Massanutten a few times. I’m not a beer girl either…I think it tastes like old socks.

  3. Looks like an awesome place…and looks like y’all had an amazing time! Even though I went to SBC, I never made it to Wintergreen. My hubby and I would like to take a mini-vacay – maybe we’ll head there!!! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great day!

  4. It all looks like a wonderful place to have a wonderful time with friends. Since I don’t play tennis, I would have done the skiing. And I can tolerate some beer, but I like wine. I bet they could have made you a delicious drink you would have liked!! 😉

    xoxo
