Who doesn’t love a good before and after makeover project? I recently gave a thrifted stool a new life with paint and a fun stenciled top.
Let’s take a look at this stool’s before picture. The stool had never been painted and had a slightly warped top, but since it was quite sturdy, I couldn’t pass it up for just a few dollars at my favorite thrift shop.
The makeover started with applying two coats of AS chalk paint in pure white followed by wax. I love the sheen and soft feel that wax gives a piece painted with chalk paint. To add some bling to the top of the stool, I stenciled a fun pattern with gold paint. You might remember this stencil from my side table makeover.
Metallic paint isn’t easy to photograph. Outside the gold looks dull, but trust me, it’s bright and cheerful.
You can see some shine here.
This stool makeover didn’t take long and cost $0 since I had all of the supplies on hand.
I’m glad I could give this stool a new look.
