Thrifty Finds

It’s been a long time since I’ve been thrifting.  I had an opportunity to stop by Goodwill on Saturday and I’m glad that I did because I found two things that I really like that were a bargain.

Many times I’ve shared my love of old planters.  Mama gave me the twin to this container last spring when she moved.  It will be nice to have two of them in case I ever want to use one on either side of my mantel or if I want to have matching containers for two tables or to use two on one table.  This was only $1.99.

I’ve also shared with you my love for turkey decorations for Thanksgiving.  I particularly love turkey platters.  I almost jumped for joy when I found this platter for only $1.39.  Yes, it is plastic, but I still love the design.  I practically ran across Goodwill to show it to Mr. SP.

The great thing is that I’ll forget all about this platter and I’ll be so surprised when I find it with my other Thanksgiving turkey things.

I haven’t seen a lot of thrifting posts lately.  I always enjoy seeing the bargains that people find.  I guess thrifting posts will become more frequent now that it is getting warmer and yard sale season will start once again.

Have you found anything good lately at a thrift shop or yard sale?

  1. I love your thrift finds! I haven’t had time to get out there and look lately, though I do enjoy finding a good bargin. Carla

  2. Paula, great finds at the thrift store! I too love your turkey platter. I just ran across one yesterday that I strongly considered BUT it had a lot of pink on it which I didn’t think would work with my fall stuff. I may go back and get it anyway!
Oh yes, my post this week is filled with thrifting finds. I’m hooked! 🙂

  3. I. LOVE. that planter! Such pretty lines. I had to make myself NOT go into Salvation Army today. There are several furniture pieces I am on the lookout for, but I need to straighten the rest of the house before I embark on any more projects. :s

  4. What a beautiful planter! I haven’t went thrifty shopping for a long time now. Go out with my terrible two yrs old son is no fun! Especially at thrifty stores where you have to take your time to see everything!!

  5. Super finds, I love them both. The planter will be so versatile to use for so many different things and the turkey platter is a great find. Love them both. Hugs, Marty

  8. It’s so funny that you posted this because I stopped by the Goodwill today and found tons of stuff. It’s always so hit and miss but I spent $48 today. That’s the most I’ve ever spent thrifting!

I loved both of your finds, especially your Thanksgiving platter. Not only do I love platters but I love Thanksgiving!

  9. I also am a fan of thrifting…and haven’t gone for a while!

Love your finds though. That turkey platter reminds me of one my Grandma had, I remember having Thanksgiving dinner when we went to visit her in Idaho. It was plastic too!
