Table Makeover with Red – Themed Furniture Day!

Table Makeover from the Trash by virginiasweetpea.com Today is November’s Themed Furniture Makeover Day and this month’s theme is red.  Red is one of my favorite colors and I was excited to makeover a table that I found in a pile of trash on my way to school one day.

I was already running late the day I spotted this table but it didn’t stop me from doing a U-turn on Rivermont Avenue to rescue it.  The teens waiting for the bus beside the trash pile gave me a very strange look as I loaded it into my car.

Lucky for me, the table was in great shape, it simply needed a good cleaning and a thorough sanding.  After I cleaned and sanded it, it received three coats of Behr Ultra semi-gloss in forbidden red from The Home Depot.

You will notice that the color of the table looks a bit different in all of my pictures.  Since it is a shiny paint, I had trouble photographing it to show its true color.  It’s more of a burgundy color rather than a cherry red like it looks in some of my photographs.Themed Furniture Makeover with Red by virginiasweetpea.com

This little table’s first job is going to be on my porch for Christmas.  Won’t it look pretty with a Christmas arrangement of greens on it’s top?  I also plan to display some of my vintage Christmas books on its shelf.

I’m so glad that I saved this table from the landfill!

  1. I love that you rescued this table from the trash! You always find great stuff that way! I can’t wait to see how it looks on your porch for Christmas. What a great idea – I know it is going to look beautiful and classically Christmas.

  2. Love that red table! You saved another piece of good wood furniture from the scrap yard. I so appreciate people taking the time to refinish and renew furniture instead of throwing it away and buying something new. Great job.
