Iowa State Tennis Racket Wreath

Iowa State Tennis Racket Wreath - Use an old or broken tennis racket to make a school pride wreath that can hang on a wall or door.

A few weeks ago Mr. SP’s doubles partner accidentally broke his racket during a singles match.  He swears he tapped it on the ground when he made a mistake and it cracked.  His wife fished it out of the garbage when he wasn’t looking and asked me to craft a surprise wreath for him.  Keith and Mr. SP work together and I thought he might enjoy decorating his office with his old tennis racket, especially if I made a school-pride version for him.

Does this man look like the type that would beat his racket against the ground in frustration?  Of course not!  He just tapped it against the ground!

I think Keith is the only person I know who went to Iowa State.

I usually spray paint the racket before I make a tennis racket wreath.  Nicole wants Keith to know it was his racket that has been used for an Iowa State craft, so it was left unpainted.

Keith and Nicole are hosting a tennis social at their house this coming weekend and I plan to present it to him at the party.  I hope he likes it and that he’s pleasantly surprised that his racket didn’t end up in the city landfill.

See my Tennis Racket Dahlia wreath for directions on how to make this project.

  1. That is so cool, Paula! You do a great job on these wreaths–and I think it’s especially neat that you made this one especially for your friend. I’ll bet his wife loves it, and I hope he does, too!
